I just deposited my first paychecks from my job. Can I tell you how nice it is to have money again? Especially since I made more in my first three weeks than I did in three entire MONTHS with the Magic.
Oh, and federal taxes? Suck. I think I know who the real criminals are. And it's not some of the people they put in jail.
Last night was the "official" grand opening of the DASS Salon and Spa at Lenox. (They've been open for a while, but this was their opening night party.) I went to Lenox after work, got a French manicure (which is already chipping---SOMEONE is going to fix it), and visited Blair until Miranda got there. It was great to see her and catch up (I haven't seen her in nearly two years), and she hasn't changed all that much...except she went blonde on me! (And it looks really good!) I met up with her, her friend Candice, her old roommate Jessica, and her friend Sasha (whom I didn't "meet" until I was getting ready to leave). The salon itself is pretty nice. But it was a bit crowded in there with all of the chairs and people and photographers. The nicest thing about the opening was that you could go in and look at all of the rooms. So I gave myself a tour of the spa area. It's not as nice as the one I went to in South Beach, but still really nice. My favorite feature was the whirlpool tub filled with rose petals. I found a coupon for 20% any service before August 15. Birthday present to myself? Sounds great. :) I wanted to stay for the fashion show, but they started late and I didn't feel like waiting, so I left. Miranda invited me to go salsa dancing with them, but I couldn't do it this week.....too tired. Maybe next time. I was glad I got to do something "different" for once.
I've got to find some way to kill three and a half hours tonight before I go bowling. (Not quite as exciting as grand openings, but I haven't been in a while, so why not?) I was going to go to the Beyonce's Child show. Wayne (a guy at work) offered me his other ticket. But I got a look at the schedule for the performers, and it wouldn't be worth it, even if the ticket is in a suite. The only person I want to see is Amerie, and her set is only 20 minutes long. Plus, I'd have to leave at 8:30, and half of the time I'd be there (it starts at 7) will be intermission. I'm sure there's someone else who wants to go more. Maybe I'll go visit Toya at her new place.
Actually, that's a good idea. lol
After bowling, I'm going to get my new "Harry Potter" novel. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to do it without too much drama.
In basketball news.....Jarrett officially signed his contract with the Blazers yesterday. BJ (Elder) and Luke (Schenscher) are both on the summer league rosters for the Spurs. (I object! WHAT are the odds? I can't turn into a Spurs fan!) Will (Bynum) signed a free agent contract with the Celtics, and Isma'il (Muhammed) signed one with the Mavericks. Lamont is still on the summer league roster for the Hawks---he made it through the workouts this week---and is leaving with the team today (or they might have left yesterday).
I'm so proud of my boys. :)
I've got a meeting in a little while, so I'm going to go and get some things done.
